CICA's Message to Captains about completing score-sheets

Following is the text from CICA's message to Captains about completing score sheets:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Captains,
Please make sure that you complete the score sheet and it is neat and clean to understand. Also complete the coversheet with playing 11, who won and who was man of the match. It is both team’s captain duty to assure that score sheet is completed (check if batsman’s runs and extras are making up the exact total, Bowlers runs are making up the exact total). If we do not have the complete score sheet there will be no individual score entered for the match. if scorecards are incomplete/incorrect and teams didn’t fix it, it will be entered as it is and we will not entertain emails later asking for correction. It becomes double the work for the committee. So teams make sure scorecards are correct before you leave the ground on the game day. After completing the score sheet please make sure to keep the score sheet in score sheet box.
If anyone wants to report a discrepancy in score card, that team’s captain can contact the committee with scanned/hard  copy of shore sheet.
Please try to follow these points while entering the score sheet:
  • Make sure that you write batting team and bowling team name on score sheet.
  • Check if batsman’s runs and extras are making up for the exact total. Bowlers runs are making up for the exact total
  • Sum up Batsman’s runs and balls. Sum up Bowlers stats.
  • Many a times run out is given as a wicket to bowler. When there is a run out, write RO and By in ‘How’ column, don’t write the bowlers name in bowler column.
  • Please uses proper legends/acronyms while doing the scoring.
  • Wk :Wicket
  • RO: Run out
  • LB: Leg Bye
  • BY: Byes
  • NB: No Ball
  • WB: Wide Ball
Thanks,
CICA

Lets all make sure that we are filling out the score sheets due diligently!

CICA : Clarification on chucking and rules for new snow-fence

Thank you CICA for installing the new Snow Fence at the Normal ground.

Here is clarification on chucking and rules for new snow-fence from CICA:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Cricketers,

There has been general perception floating in Bloomington cricket community that CICA allows throw bowling (Chucking). This email is to clarify that CICA do not allow chucking of the ball (throw bowling) and match umpire has an authority to give chucked ball as 'NO Ball'. CICA follows the ICC guidelines considering this issue.

This is a reminder to umpires of all teams that CICA follows ICC chucking rule. Leg umpire is in a position to give this decision.

There should not be any exemptions to the bowlers who had been bowling with chucking action for past matches/years. The bowlers getting away with chucked ball in past could just be an ignorance of umpire on this rule. Match should not be stopped for umpire giving a chucked ball and should continue with umpire’s decision.

To give a clear understanding of this rule please go through the following link: (Read "Fair delivery - the arm" section)

http://www.lords.org/laws-and-spirit/laws-of-cricket/laws/law-24-no-ball,50,AR.html

NEW FENCE INSTALLED.

We have put snow fencing on water ditch side of the ground. This will save us lot of time and balls. As this fencing is around 4’ tall, we came up with following rules regarding ball hitting the fence or going into ditch. Fencing is open at all 3 bridges, so that player can cross over to fetch the ball. For scoring purpose we will divide this fencing in 2 sections from center bridge.

If the ball hits the fence and ball stays on inner side of the fence, it will be declared runs and batsman cannot be run out.
If the ball bounces on the ground and then hits the fence till center bridge it will be 1 run.
If the ball hits directly on fence till center bridge without bouncing on the ground it will be 2 runs.
If ball falls in ditch (water) directly or after hitting the fence, 2 runs are declared.
If the ball hits the bridges till center bridge it will be 1 run.
Ball hitting the fence (with bounce or direct) after the center bridge it will be 2 runs.
If ball hits the fence and crosses over the water ditch and do not cross the boundary. Ball is still in play and batsman has to run to get the runs.
Rest of the rules remains the same.
Dicuss with umpires and opponent team to make sure all team members understands the new change due to fencing.

Note: We will try these rules for this week and if we find it suitable it will be finalized.

Thanks,
CICA
